Chelsea and Barcelona toiled their respective ways to a 2-2 draw in Maryland yesterday with the Premier League side going on to just about edge it in the subsequent penalty shoot-out.
It was Eden Hazard who opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a lovely little solo virtuoso effort. The Belgian picked the ball up some 45 yards from goal before quickly and efficiently carving the Barcelona defence in twain before steering it in past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen…
After going in 1-0 down at the break, Barcelona came out swinging and hauled themselves into the lead via a Luis Suarez lob and a beautiful curling effort from young Sandro Ramirez.
However, a late, 86th-minute headed equaliser from Gary Cahill brought about the aforementioned shoot-out, which Chelsea won 4-2.
