World Cup Vine: Ecuador’s Antonio Valencia Sent Off For Studs-Up Lunge vs France

By Alan Duffy

This was a proper old school studs-up challenge, the kind that could easily break an opponent’s leg. In this instance,  the man on the end of the challenge, France defender Lucas Digne, lived to fight another day.

However, the perpetrator Antonio Valencia was rightly shown a straight red. A stupid challenge and one which all but ended his side’s chances of beating Les Bleus.
