FC Zurich have today announced that the club have parted company with Florent Malouda – though, rather embarrassingly, they appear to have done so without actually informing him.

The former Chelsea winger, 38, had been working as an attacking coach/assistant at Zurich since mid-February, but his employment came to an end after the Swiss side decided his other various extra-curricular pursuits were rendering the arrangement untenable.

Zurich released a statement via their official Twitter account that reads:

FC Zurich and Florent Malouda have by mutual agreement decided to end the cooperation which only started recently.

It turned out that the different projects Florent Malouda continues to be involved in are incompatible with his designated tasks at FC Zurich.

We wish Florent Malouda all the best on his future career path.

However, it would seem that the parting of ways isn’t quite as mutual as Zurich would have us believe, especially if Malouda’s bamboozled response to the news is anything to go by…

Check your spam folder, Florent.
