The Sun’s Hatchet Job On ‘Jackass’ Fabio Capello Is A Disgrace

THE Sun stepped up it’s subtle ‘Capello Out!’ campaign today with a quite spectacularly abominable article by football hack Shaun Custis, in which England’s manager was branded a ‘Jackass’ (for dropping Jack Wilshere – geddit!), a ‘silly ass’ and a ‘donkey’. You get the idea: from Turnip Taylor, via the Wally with the Brolly, to another hatchet job from Britain’s most popular newspaper.

So never mind that Wilshere has hardly been bringing the thunder for Arsenal so far this season (the Sun awarded him 5/10 for his quiet performance against Liverpool) – can we get a design monkey to put some donkey ears on Fabio, the football editor shouted.

Custis also bemoaned the non-selection of Newcastle striker Andy Carroll. What, Capello should pick Carroll because he’s had one decent game in the top flight? Now that would be the behaviour of a jackass. Carroll’s time will come, but he’s not ready yet.

It’s not the first time a News International publication has made me feel ashamed to be English, and no doubt it won’t be the last. Yes, Capello made some mistakes in the World Cup, and his man-management style isn’t working, but give the guy a break and drop the cheap n’ childish name-calling, please. Don’t let the idiots win.

Even Football365, which is owned by Murdoch, felt the urge to write an open letter to the Sun about its ‘toxic’ Capello piece – and a superb letter it is too.

To help redress the balance, here’s a picture of Custis with a goatee made out of baby shit:

“GORMLESS Custis, 46, stupidly thinks Andy Carroll is ready for England’s senior squad. What an utter IDIOTHOLE the Sun football hack is!

“A source told us: ‘Yes, he is a bit of a SHITFACE, isn’t he.’”

There’s clearly money to be made in shoddy and tactless photoshops, and you my son are well on your way to earning millions with that fine effort.

  2. chimpo says:

Even F365 are owned by Cybderdine systems, sorry i mean News International?

    jesus christ

“To help redress the balance, here’s a picture of Custis with a goatee made out of baby shit”

Instantly one of my favourite sentences of all time.

  4. Eric says:

Andy Carroll has been in sensational form…

  5. Fellaini's Fro says:

I am very optimistic about the most recent Newcastle number nine, but after one decent game scoring a hat trick against a team that had already been thoroughly demoralized byt the end of the match is a bit too much, not to mention he had one decent chance against United the week before which he really should of capitalized on does not warrant an Enlgand call up. I’m all for a nice shiny new England team but I want to see if this guy is a bit more Shearer than Vassel

  6. JC says:

Capello…Capello, before the World Cup I thought that you are brilliant, but not. Mistakes likes left on the bench to Aaron Lennon, Joe Hart, Joe Cole and Peter Crouch..and left out Gary Cahill and Theo Walcott…..

  7. Johan Cryuff says:

I read this same article and thought exactly the same as you, it was embarrassing, when he moaned that Carroll not being picked was a disgrace I wasn’t sure whether he was joking or not?

I still don’t get how he overlooked Hart from the World Cup XI though?

  8. Lannoy says:

Capello is the worst England manager for some time! qualifying from a group containing Ukraine/Croatia(both of whom are on the wane)Andorra, Kazakhstan and Belarus = “big deal”. He was embarrasingly bad at the World Cup and every time we’ve played a half decent nation we’ve been rolled over, Spain, Brazil, Germany, France etc etc. Can’t spot a good player or a form player, 6.5 million a year and he cant even be arsed to learn English. The man is a waste of space heres how it will go, qualify steadily for euros loose every major friendly and blame it on missing players, then get mullered at the euros and back to square one 20 odd million later…lol

  9. Jack says:

This “article” clearly crossed the line. i doubt that in these days and with the power of footballistic imbeciles writing their pulp, experts like Sir Alf Ramsey would stand a chance at the helm of the Three Lions.

You simply can’t build a masterpiece when the tools you have are merely junk, overhyped by the very same “journalists” who later blame you for doing it all wrong.

You can totally forget what these so-called sports journalists write about football, because they could as well write about the stock market or Grandmother’s best receipts and get them all wrong, too. There’s no degree you have to pass to make it to the sports department, yet these clever yobs keep bragging they know it all.

  10. Montesquieu says:

The Sun, it’s the reason why newspapers in the U.K are the worst in the English speaking world.

  11. [...] – you are ready to share a dressing room with men like John Terry and Ashley Cole. If that Jackass Capello picks you again. [...]

  12. [...] in London. His Wikipedia page is just a stub that has him listed as being Irish, and coupled with Capello disdain for being labeled a “jackass”, I’m not buying he’ll be in goal for England any time [...]
