Puma Score Cracking Own-Goal As ‘Radamel Falcao’ Twitter PR Stunt Almost Inevitably Backfires

By Chris Wright

Soccer - 2014 Emirates Cup - Valencia CF v AS Monaco - Emirates Stadium

The idea was for football fans to Tweet using Puma’s new “#foreverfaster” hashtag to receive a personalised message from their favourite Puma athletes, including footballers Radamel Falcao, Cesc Fabregas and Marco Reus.

However, it all went a bit tits-up for Puma when fans starting setting up phony Twitter accounts with specifically chosen usernames, meaning that the personalised messages they received from Falcao and the gang came back looking like this…

falcao-puma1

fabregas-puma1

reus-puma1

You try to do something nice, and look what you bloody well get!
