This ‘ere motley crew you see afore ye is none other than Belgian amateur side VK Linden who, as you may have noticed, look a tad sharper than your average Carling-and-kebab-powered Sunday League ensemble.

Whereas the usual Sunday League kit consists of 11 ancient orange shirts ranging in size from 8-12 years all the way through to extra small mens teamed with your own vaguely matching shorts and socks brought from home, VK Linden’s strip is a cut above – being, as it is, designed by one of Belgium’s most pre-eminent cartoonists, Jeroom Snelders.

Rather than being stained with the sweat and lager vomit of one thousand previous occupants, Linden’s new Jeroom-designed kit features fantastical comic scenes – with a kraken, a tyrannosaurus rex and an evil skeletal villain running amok through a city on the front and giant cobra fighting King Kong on the back…

The collaboration apparently came about when one of VK Linden’s coaches realised he worked in the same building as Humo magazine, who currently employ Jeroom.

Following a brief exchange of emails, his team’s swanky new kit became a reality.

Linden even got off to a winning start in their brand new togs on Sunday, racking up an impressive 5-0 victory (which immediately becomes less impressive once you learn they were granted the victory by the referee after their opponents failed to turn up).
