After enduring a difficult start to his managerial career with Valencia, Gary Neville’s fortunes have turned at the Mestalla, with the former Man Utd star steering his side to three wins in their last three games. And thanks to that upsurge in form, Los Che owner Peter Lim wants to extend Neville’s stay in Spain.

Spanish news outlet AS are reporting that Neville has been offered a new two year deal, after current contract ends this summer. Neville finally enjoyed his first La Liga win with Valencia via their 2-1 victory over Espanyol earlier this month, before a 6-0 Europa League battering of Rapid Vienna and another league win against Granada really lifted gloom over the Mestalla.

That winning streak has prompted Singaporean billionaire Lim and club sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarchto  to try and tie down their manager to a long-term deal.

However, if Neville does sign on the dotted line, it will surely jeopardize his coaching gig with the England during EURO 2016, with Valencia’s pre-season his priority. Can’t see Roy Hodgson being too pleased about that.

Two weeks ago he was on the verge of being physically ejected from Spain. Three games later (all against opposition that are hardly of the premium variety) and there’s talk of a contract extension?

Forgive me, but this sounds like crap of the highest order.

@Jarren – given the existing business relationship between Lim and Neville generally (see Hotel Football and Salford City FC), an on-going appointment would not be a surprise. Provided that Valencia avoid the drop, this is probably not as far-fetched as you would think.
