The Top 10 Dirtiest Premier League Players

By Ollie Irish

This list is based as much on hard stats (fouls conceded and cards received) as subjective musing – so don’t shoot the messenger unless you really got beef.

In reverse order then, here are the ten dirtiest players in the Premier League so far this season:

Picture 1 of 10

10. Patrice Evra (Man Utd defender) - 13 fouls, 0 yellow cards, 0 red cards. Evra's badge means he's somehow avoided the ref's little book so far, but no defender has committed more fouls than the feisty Frenchman.

Who did we miss? Agree/disagree with the order? As always, Pies thrives on your feedback…

PS. If you’re wondering what happened to the thumbnail gallery format, we haven’t ditched it. Far from it. For ordered lists, a clickthrough gallery makes much more sense, so for Top 10s and other lists, we’ll use that. But for all other pics – WAGs, match photos etc. – we’ll use thumbnails. Thanks for listening

Not one Blackburn player in there. What were you saying Danny Murphy?

  2. babo says:

Look at all the dirty Blackburn players… oh wait.

  3. skipratmedia says:

Ten players, nine clubs. Can we now accept that tackles fly in from everywhere, not just the naughty holy trinity of Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn (who incidentally didn’t have one in the top ten).

  4. Steve says:

Davies gets fouls called on him for being big more than for being dirty. Henry and De Jong should be tops on this list, easy.

  5. Tom Jones says:

Where is James Perch? 5 yellows in 7 games is disgraceful.

  6. Alan Duffy says:

I think some of you are missing the point. This doesn’t show who attempts the most vicious fouls, just who gets punished the most by referees for fouls, a very different thing. Fouls can be anything from a tug on the shirt to a body-check. A yellow can be given for persistent fouling too. So “skipratmedia”, your point isn’t really valid.

  7. Evra isn’t dirty is he. Our old left back, Heinze, maybe, but Evra isn’t.

  8. JS. says:

Of course Evra doesn’t get booked, he does play for ManU after all.

  9. gamblino says:

Berra is a fucking liability , that’s the only reason he’s on the list (he can’t defend). and I agree with number 3.

  10. Binnsey says:

I wish we (Forest) had Cattlemole

  11. Wenger says:

    where is Ryan Shawcross?

  12. fasdfew says:

    Shawcross?

  13. fasdfew says:

    i wasn’t questioning, i was agreeing

  14. moomoo says:

when did carroll get a red card this season?

  15. Anonymous says:

Just shows that Blackburn and Bolton aren’t called for their fouls, doesn’t it, which is the whole point of everybody talking about the issue – that refs need to call the fouls “FOULS”. I mean, DeJong didn’t get a card for the Ben Arfa foul, remember? Was not a foul, was it, then? List proves the point, actually, that refs need to call it like they really see em, after taking off the rose-tinted glasses.

  17. Tinez says:

You’ve magicked up a red card for Andy Carroll from where?

  18. Andrew Thompson says:

James Perch isnt dirty he is just shit and a think for some players on there it is all petty fouls unlike Karl Henry who I am amazed is not no.1….he must of just got away with plenty.

    glad cattermoles in there

  20. bluedigger says:

firstly to judge the worst offenders we may need to get perspective ie time on the pitch , an number of tackles made compared to fouls conceded and cards recieved
secondly this article is not just on hard stats
so put a proper list out so we can make real decisions and have facts to support them
    thanks

  21. TRUEdoo says:

    NO THUMBNAILS AGAIN!? !

  22. Foasjiano says:

The majority of Carroll and Davies’ “fouls” are from competing for the ball in the air – mostly legally. Just watch how often they get pulled up for trying to fairly win the ball in the air.

  23. zorro2525 says:

    what about ryan shawcross??

  24. The Old Campaigner says:

Perhaps it should be ; “Dirtiest lower lge players who play in the prem.”

  25. kel says:

bet cattermole is gutted he isnt number 1
