Three_lions_2With Scott Parker tipped to add some sweat and work ethic to the England side to play Croatia tomorrow, I began wondering what the national team would look like if Steve McClaren followed dropping David Beckham by removing a few more big-name players. Click below to see Pies’ Mid-table England XI – excluding any players from last season’s top five clubs.

GK Ben Foster

DR Micah Richards
DC Sol Campbell
DC Anton Ferdinand
DL Gareth Barry

MR James Milner
MC Scott Parker
MC Nigel Reo-Coker
ML Gabriel Agbonlahor

FC Andy Johnson
FC Darren Bent

Kevin Nolan narrowly misses out and I struggled to come up with a suitable right-sided midfielder. In the end it was between Milner and James Morrison. Have I overlooked any obvious candidates? Who would be in your team?

that side is the perfect rebuttle to anyone who criticises Wenger for not buying English.

  2. Glenn says:

what about wayne routledge on the right, a much better player than milner, and technically (for this season anyway) a fulham player

  3. Rob P says:

OK, we’ll go along with that Glenn. But as soon as he’s back at Spurs, he’s out!
