Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland – Premier League – 6th December 2014
Liverpool’s disappointing season continued at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, with the Reds failing to break down a well-organised Sunderland side.
With captain Steven Gerrard given a breather, the hosts struggled to click in a game bereft of many good chances. Both Wes Brown and Connor Wickham went close for the Black Cats while Jordi Gomez also had an effort saed by Simon Mignolet. As for the home side, they improved late on, with Philippe Coutinho testing Costel Pantilimon before Raheem Sterling had a shout for a penalty waved away by referee by Neil Swarbrick. However, ultimately both sides would have to settle for a point.
Liverpool drop to ninth while Sunderland stay 14th.
