Dropped or protected for Liverpool’s final match of the season at Stoke City, Raheem Sterling went on a walkabout by the fans who once hymned his name in praise.

The overriding view from Liverpool fans is that Sterling can “f*** himself” with his agent Aidy Ward’s “***** *****-***b”.

Have fun filling in the asterisks yourselves.

After the pre-game pleasantries, what Liverpool fans needed was for the team to shine without Sterling.

They didn’t. They got thrashed 6-1. Steven Gerrard’s final game of the club was a disaster for the Reds and an epic win for Stoke.

In fact, it was so bad Brendan Rodgers felt the need to apologise for it.

Hands on hips and wondering just what the hell is going on? That young Stokie’s stance is positively Gerrardian!

  1. Murray says:

So Sterling can “free himself” with his agent’s “sport news blurb”.

Very astute observation from the Liverpool fans.

LOL, very good:) And sadly its true. As a liverpool fan though it still hurts.

@ the others, expectations for Stirling were high this year based on last year, where he was supported by two fit world class strikers. Different game this year for him this year, but hes still one of Liverpools top producers in a somewhat hobbled team. However, when you look at his numbers as Sean Ingle at the Guardian has, at 20 he is comparable to the very elite of the world game at the same age, so the chances seem slim that he will be festering at Sunderland or Watford in a few years. The real question is what can Liverpool do to once again become a destination club, rather than a stepping stone for world class talent.

Sadly, as Gary Neville pointed out, there is a long list of world class players who have felt they need to move on to meet their ambitions as players, Suarez, Torres, Alonso, Mascherano and Owen and McManaman before them… We should enjoy the show and watching him develop while we can, and do everything we can to support the team and players as we drag ourselves back to the top table.

Its kind of a painful reality check for someone whos been a red since the 80s.

  2. Chris says:

Sorry this time its the club not Raheem who were absolute pillocks, 6-1 in Stevies last game. How dare they.

Brendan Rodgers now is facing a group of players who taking out and not putting back into the team. As the fat controller said – I NEED YOU TO BE A REALLY USEFUL ENGINE.

They need to be buying a Cavani or someone with leadership in their veins. The confidence needs to be restored, a statement needs to be made.

  3. Savage says:

I wanted to see sterling do well for England but Christ on a bike I can’t wait to never hear his name again. We get it. He’s gonna leave liverpool. Say what you will about money or glory or what ever but sterling is just gonna dissolve into the random names that won’t make it, ie the Scott Sinclair effect. In four years Sterling will be top scorer for Sunderland or watford while making a pretty penny too

  4. Jarren says:

@Savage: I can see Sterling playing for a team like Sunderland or Watford in a few years time, that much I agree with.

But top scorer? Are you having a laugh?

The lad couldn’t kick his way out of a paper bag.

  5. Savage says:

@jarren maybe it was the wine making me think that…although you only need 5 goals to be top goal scorer for Sunderland this season mind you!
