As expected, Huddersfield have appointed Jan Siewert as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The 36-year-old German has been plucked from Borussia Dortmund II, the very same team managed by David Wagner until he made the jump to the John Smiths Stadium in 2015.
The Terriers made their official announcement on Monday afternoon and made just to gently rib Sky Sports while doing so…

In case you missed it, Sky thought they’d eyeballed Siewert in the crowd at Huddersfield’s defeat against Man City on Sunday only for closer inspection to reveal that he was a chap called Martin from Wakefield.
However, it turns out that Martin is a thoroughly decent chap who runs a charity, Martin House, helping young kids and their families.
👏 #htafc thanks @MartinHouseCH for their support with the video!
Martin House offers 24-hour, seven days a week care to families with children/young people who have life-limiting illnesses.

Good on him.
As for Siewart, it’s difficult to see how he’s going to keep Huddersfield up this season.
They’re 10 points from safety with 15 games left to play and have scored fewer goals collectively than several players – Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – have on their lonesome.
By criminy, he needs something approaching a miracle.
