Some pics from England’s first training session in South Africa. Gareth Barry did some stretching and light ball work, which was good to see, and David Beckham just will not get the message that he’s NOT in the squad.

Seriously though, is anyone else uneasy about Beckham’s entirely unnecessary presence? He’s not a player, he’s not a coach, he’s a glorified mascot. Grrrr. I suppose he will be able to help England’s wide men in their crossing, but that’s about it.

Oh, and Fabio Capello shouted at one of his coaching staff for putting a training cone in the wrong place.
