It is a great goal, indeed, but it’s not like the first time it’s done. I actually prefer Mendieta’s goal against Barcelona (although I believe it’s not from this century…)

What a CRACKER
I think Ollie just loves getting overexcited about anything, be it Van Der Vaart joining Spurs, or this goal. Terrific goal yes, but nowhere near goal of the 21st Century. There have been hundreds of similar goals this century (first time volley from the outside of the box via a corner). Nothing to get too excited about. From Ollie’s post, you’d have thought Altintop scored that goal while giving birth to a child.

Anyway, I’d never consider a volley, or just a random shot the goal of the year. that would mean no beautiful plays would take place in the entire year.
