Tottenham 1-1 Sunderland, Premier League – Wasteful Spurs Blow Two Points (Photos)

By Ollie Irish

Even Steve Bruce admitted his team was lucky to get away with a draw after a game that Tottenham should have put to bed by half-time. But Spurs couldn’t take their chances, and some comedy defending by Younes Kaboul and William Gallas gifted the Mackems an equaliser they barely deserved. Still, as Arry said in his post-match interview, Tottenham fans – some of whom booed at the final whistle, shamefully – can’t really have any complaints about the thrilling football their side is playing this season – and he’s absolutely right. Watching Rafael van der Vaart is worth the admission price alone. As an aside, the self-entitlement of some fans in the Prem is outrageous.

And a word on the David Bentley penalty incident. Bentley was booked for diving in the box by Howard Webb, a decision that Arry Redknapp strongly disagreed with. But I think Bentley did go to the floor early, knowing well he would make contact with the Sunderland player. As such, Webb made a very good spot – and I say that as a Spurs fan.

  1. Andy Jo says:

WTF is going on? We beat Inter & become the 1st team to score 3 goals in both legs against them, then we lose to Bolton & now draw with S’thampton.

  2. Davy says:

@ Andy Jo draw with S’thampton? Am I missing a joke here?
