Liverpool Lining Up Move For West Ham’s Valon Behrami?
By Chris Wright
Following the news yesterday that the West Ham owners are prepared to listen to offers for all of their players (bar Scotty ‘Mr West Ham’ Parker), reports are circulating today that Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is planning an £8 million summer bid for the Hammer’s versatile midfielder Valon Behrami.
Benitez is apparently ready to use the cash raised by the inevitable sale of Albert Riera to part-fund a move for Behrami, whose ability to cover a number of positions would offer depth to an oft-threadbare Liverpool squad.
The hard-working Swiss international can play as an out-and-out winger on the right and left flank, comfortably deputise as a full-back and adeptly slot into a more central role – as well as coming complete with a retractable nail file and a toothpick.
