Harry Redknapp has revealed that Birmingham City have presented John Terry with a ‘good offer’ to join the Championship club.

As you well know, Terry had his 22-year association with Chelsea brought to an end in May and, keen to play on, is now assessing his options.

Aston Villa reportedly made an approach to sign the 36-year-old free agent last week, with their cross-city rivals now following suit.

Speaking to the TalkSPORT breakfast show, Redknapp said:

I’d love to have him at the football club. He’s a fantastic captain and great leader.

We’ve made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It’s up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.

He could play for anybody still. He has got a couple of good years in him.

He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick’s testimonial. Fergie had the 2008 Champions League-winning team, I had an All-Star team and I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher – I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.

I had a chat with him and said to him to come in – he’s doing his coaching badges – have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?

Signing a big name for a comparatively lesser club on an undoubtedly vast wage on the strength of a decent performance in a testimonial match?

It really doesn’t get any more ‘Arry than that.
