Liverpool Boss Roy Hodgson Wants To Sign England World Cup Flop

By Ollie Irish

Picture 1 of 8

New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is interested in signing Joe Cole to replace Yossi Benayoun. With Benayoun now a Chelsea player, Liverpool look very bare in the playmaker department, and Cole would be a sensible, if fairly expensive signing.

Of course, Liverpool face stiff competition from both Arsenal and Tottenham for Cole’s signature, with Spurs looking favourites at the moment – Arry Redknapp did sign Cole for West Ham, and you imagine the player would want to stay in London if possible. I just wish more England players would look for moves abroad – the narrow-mindedness of our players is one of the main reasons why we fail on the international stage.

Kopites, would you be happy to see Cole in Liverpool red next season?

lol it has nothing to do with narrow mindedness. Its about taking the players who are fit and in form instead of names who go on the teamsheet regardless. also when you have players out of position or deopped when they created the most opportunities (Lennon vs USA) no wonder we flop.

since benyaoun left for chelsea for some reason which i havent come to decision why he left and to be a bench warmer for chelsea!! Cole is a good player but i would prefer to see adra turan come in whos younger and better skilled than Cole.

@ tommo… it isnt england player that need to go abroad the F.A need to put all the money into home grown players exactly what germany have done and remember this is the first world cup for germany with a very young side just imagine how they will be in 4 years from now!

I would like to see cole sign but i think it is looking a bit unlikely! Would love to see arda turan, ashley young and a return for crouchy whom we never should have sold.
