Belgian Linesman Hit By Wet Cardboard, Re-Enacts Spaghetti Western Death Scene (Video)
By Chris Wright
In which, during Lierse’s 2 – 1 win over Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Jupiler League last Saturday, assistant referee Frederick Geldhof is struck in the back of the head by a rogue missile from the crowd consisting of a single piece of damp cardboard.
Mr Geldhof, believing himself to have been shot through the heart at the end of Spaghetti Western movie, then proceeds to stagger off into the desert looking for a place to curl up and die while the vultures begin picking at his half-dead corpse like Eli soddin’ Wallach…
Said Geldhof after the game:
“My head was struck by an object. and I thought it was a block of ice. I was dizzy and thought I would faint. I heard later that it was a piece of cardboard. It’s no laughing matter. I am father of two children and my daughter sent a text message because she was worried.”
Again. Wet cardboard.

Got to say, didn’t look that wet. The look on the players face is the most damning.
The look on the player’s face afterwards is classic.
haha, the impression on Sonck’s face
Spaghetti Western… LOL XD You’re right! :D
Well, amazingly he didn’t stumble right into the arms of the referee to “die” there in a dramatic lovestory-momentum.
Be fair, it could have taken his eye out.
Was it single or double ply do we know?
is that Busquets’ father?
the holes in the cardboard could have sent the piece of deathboard at ultra speeds into the head of the official…. i’m happy to hear he is still alive and with us.
momo, I think it’s Di Maria’s brother, I’m not sure, could be Pepe’s or Ronaldo’s too. They all look so much alike when on the field diving
@ MOMO — ahhahahahahahhahahahahh !!!
Joe, or it could have been Barcelona’s diving teacher.. but im not too sure.
