A-League Headliners Alessandro Del Piero & Emile Heskey Both Open Aussie Accounts In Same Game (Videos)

By Chris Wright

The two twin bastions of the A-League’s push for prominence, Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey, both scored their first goals for their respective new clubs, each finding the net with impressive strikes when Sydney FC welcomed the Newcastle United Jets to their manor on Saturday.

First up came Del Piero’s maiden goal (with the Jets already 1-0 up) – a beautifully flighted free-kick from the corner of the box…

Then, 419 days since his last professional goal, came Heskey’s volley to put the Jets 2-1 up…

The game eventually finished 3-2 in Newcastle’s favour. Once again, (in case you couldn’t process it the first time) EMILE HESKEY scored.

I’ve got a theory on this. Since toilets flush the other way, everything must be in reverse down under.

“Heskey’s volley to level the tie at 1-1″
Actually, Del Piero scored the equaliser, then Heskey’s volley gave the Nets a 2-1 advantage (1-1 on the corner is before the goal)

Just to clarify Pies, Heskey’s goal put Newcastle up 2-1.

What a game though! Fuck the smurfs, Newcastle ’til I die!

Go on Heskey. Nice guy. Not the greatest player but always tried hard. He’s gotten a lot of unfair criticism in his time. He is hardly going to tell the England manager to pick some one else I’m not good enough. Fair play to him.

I hear Del Piero was put off joining Liverpool because of Heysel then. Interesting…
