Retro Football: Finn Laudrup (Michael And Brian’s Father) Was A Rather Good Player Too (With Video Evidence)

By Chris Wright

Most people would consider having two world class silkmongers in the family as being a bit greedy, but the Laudrups boasted three. Along with Michael and Brian, the Laudrup brothers’ old man Finn was a bloody dandy player in his pomp too, as the following archive footage will duly attest to…

It just goes to show what a dash of the right DNA can do. If you could somehow bottle those Laudrup genes you’d make a fortune.

Here’s the whole clan together…

Finn, now 67, played for a clutch of Danish sides (including Brondby and the club that eventually became FC Copenhagen) as well as a stint in Austria with Weiner Sportclub throughout the 1960s and 70s, picking up 19 international caps in the process – though he was unable to play for the amateur-only Danish national side for almost ten years after becoming a full-time pro in 1968.

How about that?

That video footage is awesome. Wonderful soft feet for his close control and the timing of his dribbles and putting the ball forward are immense. Actually felt like I was watching Michael Laudrip from his Barca years there! Kudos Pies for the video find and the picture!

  2. Louis says:

    Those Laudrups, absolute quality.
