All hail Robbie Keane: IRISH GOUT LEGEND
He may be little more that an “unidentified fan” Stateside, but Robbie Keane cemented his place as a bona fide Irish hero yesterday evening by cracking in a hat-trick against the Faroe Islands on his 126th appearance for the Republic – passing Shay Given’s all-time cap record and becoming the fifth highest goalscorer in the history of European football in the process.
Keane’s three goals moved him onto 59 international goals, meaning only Miroslav Klose (67), Gerd Muller (68), Sandor Kocsis (75) and Ferenc Puskas (84) have now scored more than the LA Galaxy striker.
Anyway you look at that, it’s bloody impressive.
