Retro Football: Pele’s ‘Most Beautiful Goal’ Recreated By Naff Computer Simulation, As No Actual Footage Exists (Video)

By Chris Wright

Pele

We’ve no idea from where or whence this emanates, but here’s a charmingly ropey computer simulation of the ‘most beautiful goal’ Pele ever scored – which has had to be recreated digitally as no actual footage exists.

The apocryphal goal was scored by Pele for Santos against Juventus in 1959, with Brazilian striker ‘chapeau-ing’ the ball over two defenders and the keeper before nudging the ball into the net with his head, all without the ball so much as bouncing once – according to those in attendance, anyway.

A little something like this, if you will…

Looks like it was recreated using Actua Soccer 2, so kudos to whoever’s responsible!

Have to admit, while that’s one hell of a naff computer simulation, it’s probably still the MOST BEAUTIFUL naff computer simulation.

  2. Rossco says:

Similar to Davie Cooper’s beautiful solo against Celtic which was actually caught on camera!

“Can you IMAGINE Messi in the 60′s? He’d score triple hat tricks in every game (unless he was chopped in half)”

And he would be. After about five minutes. Moreover, can you imagine how many more step-overs Ronaldo would be allowed to get away with back then? One. Then he’d have to carry his legs home.

  3. Jarren says:

It’s been said countless times before, and I know Pele was one of the most gifted footballers of his era, but you just need to spend 5 minutes watching actual footage of his goals to realise how inept defenders were in those days.
