League Two: Oxford United Concede Freakish ‘Double Ricochet’ Own-Goal To Lose Game In 95th Minute (Video & GIF)

By Chris Wright

Oxford United gave their own League Two play-off aspirations a stout punch in the kidneys at the weekend when they lost 0-1 to fellow play-off hopefuls Dagenham & Redbridge courtesy of a freakish own-goal, with a speculative shot from Daggers’ forward Luke Howell ricocheting back and forth off the shins of two U’s defenders, Michael Raynes and Matt Bevans, before looping perfectly over ‘keeper Ryan Clarke and underneath the crossbar.

Just to make matters worse, all this went on in the 95th minute of the match…

Speaking after the game, Dagenham & Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett said: “Yeah, it was a brilliant goal, we’ve been working on that all week.”
