One of the most in-demand managers in Europe, Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone was sent to the stands on Saturday during his side’s 1-0 home win against Malaga, after ball was thrown onto the pitch (during play) by one of his staff.

The incident occurred when Malaga were on the attack, with a ball thrown from the direction of the Atletico Madrid bench onto the pitch, in what looked like an audacious attempt to hamper one of Los Boquerones’ players.

Despite not throwing the ball himself, Simeone was sent to the stands by the referee and now faces a ban, while the actual perpetrator is likely to receive an even bigger punishment.

Despite the ungentlemanly shenanigans, Atletico won the game 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Angel Correa. That win keeps Simeone’s men level on points at the top of the table along with Barcelona (who battered Sporting Gijon 6-0), with just three games to go.
