Spain suffered a rare Euro finals defeat on Tuesday night, with the title holders downed by Croatia in Bordeaux. With the scores at 1-1, the Spaniards did have a great chance to take the lead when Sime Vrsaljko fouled David Silva in the Croatian box. However, Sergio Ramos’ spot-kick was saved by Danijel Subasic after some top-secret information from Ramos’ clubmate Luka Modric.

Modric sat out the game due to injury. However, before Ramos could take the spot-kick, Croatian captain Darijo Srna looked to the sidelined Modric for some pointers to pass on to Subasic. And it certainly worked!

At least Ramos didn’t seem to peeved with his Madrid mate after the game…

Courtesy of result, Spain finish second in Group D which means they’ll face a heavyweight clash with Italy in the last 16. As for group winners Croatia, they’ll face a third-place side from either Group B, E or F.
