Barcelona came from two goals down to beat Eibar 4-2 on the final day of the La Liga season – not that it was enough to prevent rivals Real Madrid from clinching their first title since 2012 with a 2-0 win over Malaga elsewhere.

Barca fell behind to a superb Takashi Inui brace but a late rally, coupled with a few ‘favourable’ refereeing decisions, saw the Catalans claw back the victory in dramatic fashion.

Speaking of iffy calls, just hark at the circumstances in which Jordi Alba somehow managed to coax a penalty out of referee Alejandro Jose Hernandez despite quite visibly tripping himself up with no defenders in the immediate vicinity…

Have you ever seen anything more ridiculous in your life?

Perhaps fittingly, Messi saw his spot-kick swatted over the bar by Eibar ‘keeper Yoel, but the wee Argentinian soon redeemed himself, successfully scoring a second penalty in the 75th minute before seeing a truly impudent back-heeled nutmeg goal ruled out for offside…

The magical midget then wrapped things up in stoppage time by scoring a trademark solo effort, hurtling at a retreating Eibar backline, leaving several defenders for dead and steering a low finish past the goalkeeper…

The most depressing thing? That’s probably not even in his Top 20.
