A late Jonathan Walters goal gave the Republic of Ireland a share of the points at home to Austria on Sunday.

Ireland were well below-par in the first-half and eventually went behind just after the half-hour mark when Hinteregger fired home after a corner.

In the second period, Martin O’Neill’s side improved and after pushing for the equaliser, the goal eventually came.

Walters was the goal-hero at the Aviva, with the Stoke attacker latching onto a long-ball before blasting past Heinz Lindner.

The Boys in Green now looked to complete the comeback, with Shane Duffy seeing his goal chalked off for a foul.

The game would end all-square, a result which saw Ireland go top of Group D, at least temporarily.

Not even a single word about the crucial Wales game Pies? Diolch for that. Or maybe something about the Wales fans who gave blood for a local Serbian man shot by his own fans? No? Na. Dim. Nada. I’m nearly sure if it was England fans – it would be No:1 news. ..

@frank: Apologies for the oversight. A massively hectic weekend meant that we just couldn’t get to it, I’m afraid.
