Real Madrid emerged from the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup with a commanding lead over eternal rivals Barcelona, winning 3-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday night.

Indeed, Real looked to be firing on all cylinders before a ball was even kicked in anger if this footage of their mesmerising pre-match training drill is anything to go by…

It took 50 minutes for the tie to properly burst into life when a Gerard Pique own-goal set the ball rolling (over his own goal-line)…

Barca then mustered an 77th-minute equaliser as Lionel Messi levelled from the penalty spot, before Cristiano Ronaldo restored Real’s lead just three minutes later with an absolute scorcher on the break…

Ronaldo was then booked for ripping off his shirt in what appeared to be a parody of Messi’s celebration after scoring his 500th career goal during last season’s Clasico.

Two minutes later, Ronaldo (who only came on as a substitute for the last half-hour) was shown a second yellow for diving in what simply must register as the most Cristiano Ronaldo sending-off ever witnessed.

It was then left to fellow sub Marco Asensio to wrap up proceedings as the 21-year-old forward maintained his phenomenal debut scoring record by adding Real’s third goal in the 90th minute.

And a beauty is was too…

Asensio has now scored on his full senior Real debut as well as his competition debuts in La Liga, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Super Cup.

He’s a bit special.

    Asensio / Isco / Kroos / Modric

I think Real Madrid is lacking a bit of creativity in midfield…………..
