After roaring onto the European scene by scoring 90-odd goals in three seasons with Porto between 2012 and 2015, it’s fair to say the prevailing years haven’t been overly kind to Jackson Martinez.

Despite moving on to Atletico Madrid (July 2015) and Guangzhou Evergrande (February 2016) for fees of €35million and €42million respectively, a succession of unfortunate injuries saw both the goals and the appearances dry up for the Colombian striker.

However, as of last week, Martinez is now back in Portuguese football and looking for redemption having signed for the Primeira Liga’s bottom side Portimonense on a one-season loan.

To aid with said rebirth, the 31-year-old has allied his transfer with the release of his debut album.

“No Temere” (“I Will Not Fear”) is a set of seven religious hip-hop-ish songs all centred round the theme of God being absolutely bloody terrific.

Here’s but a sample of the fine work on offer, in the shape of a tropical banger entitled “Bendiceme” (“Bless Me”)…

The full album is now available on Spotify should you feel the compulsion.

Personally, Pies are going to give it a miss but only because we’re still humming Sergio Ramos’ latest angelic, rousing power ballad.
