…Fortunately, Portugal latterly when on to rout La Roja 4-0 thanks to goals from Carlos Martins, Hugo Almeida and a brace from Helder Postiga so, given Ronaldo’s famously placid ego, presumably all was forgiven.
UPDATE: Nani has now publicly apologised to Ronaldo for shafting him like a right royal twonk:
“After having time to think about it I said sorry to Ronaldo. It was a great piece of play and I shouldn’t have ruined it.”

The way Nani attacks the header and celebrates (lack of it) kind of indicates to me he thought the ball had already gone in (which it looks like it had) and he was just heading the ball for the hell of it and waiting round that area in case.
Maybe it was a cross intended for Nani..That would be my argument if I was the idiot that did that.
Ronaldo either did not celebrate or was very late to join the celebrations following Martin’s opener, I imagine overcome by the injustice that made someone else the center of attention for thirty seconds.
Re: Nani – I’m still standing by the “He’s a smaller, shitter Ronaldo” theory. Even down to the haircut, he displays all the aspects of Ronaldo’s bad side (diving, attention-whoring, going for the personal glory when a simple pass will do) accompanied by a maddening combination of talent and less, albeit slowly-emerging, end product.

2ND UPDATE: The goal should have been validated. It seems that Nani wasn’t offside because Piquet on the floor was clearly putting him in a legal position. Also, the ball was already inside the goal when Nani touched it.
