Keeper Reduces Striker’s Knee To Mush With Heinous Tackle, Crocks Him For A Year, No Foul Given (Video)

By Chris Wright

In which, during the Segunda Division tie between the two sides on Monday evening, Xerez ‘keeper Toni Doblas reduces Girona striker Ion Velez’s knee to a mushy paste with a truly horrific full-tilt tackle.

Warning for the squeamish: I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure you can see Velez’s knee dislocate fairly graphically during the second replay…

Amazingly, the referee didn’t see fit to administer Doblas with a yellow card, in fact not so much as a free-kick was awarded for his greivous knee-reducing assault – not the faintest peep of a dicky bird’s sausage.

Meanwhile, Velez is now expected to miss at least the next year of his career with acute knee ligament damage.
