Liverpool lost ground on league leaders Chelsea after Bournemouth came from 3-1 down to beat the Reds 4-3 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side almost netted a fourth goal themselves on 74 minutes, only for the goal-line technology to decide on one of the closest calls we’ve ever seen.
Goals from Sadio Mané and Divock Origi had put the visitors 2-0 up within 22 minutes. However, after the break Callum Wilson’s penalty got the Cherries back into the game.
Emre Can then restored the Reds’ two-goal advantage just after the hour-mark before an inswinging James Milner corner looked to have deceived Artur Boruc. However, the subsequent goal-line replay showed that the ball had failed to fully cross the line by just millimetres…
That’s some precision (as long as it was right!).
After that close-shave, Eddie Howe’s side would go on pull off a magnificent comeback, with sub Ryan Fraser and then defender Steve Cook levelling the scores.
Then, with the game well into injury-time, Liverpool ‘keeper Loris Karius spilled another effort from Cook, leaving Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake to fire into an empty net.
