Sterling stuff from The Sun newsdesk this morning, with the following caption appearing at the top of a photo from QPR’s blood-soaked Christmas shindig on Sunday evening…

The “unnamed man” of course, being one Charlie Austin: QPR striker/the Premier League’s fourth-top goalscorer/the highest scoring Englishman in the division.

Robbie Keane feels your pain, Charlie. He really does.

Anyway, after realising their caption cock-up, The Sun emitted the following tongue-in-cheek apology to Austin via Twitter – crow-barring a sly dig at QPR in there in the process…

Yeah, yeah, we know it’s The Sun and everything, but that tickled us.
