What you see above is the official club website of Chatham Town FC, who currently play in the Ryman League Division One North, i.e, the eighth tier of the English football pyramid.
Strangely, despite their relatively humble status, Chatham found themselves on the receiving end of a jihadi extremist hacking campaign on Saturday morning which resulted in their site being shut down for 12 hours.
Instead of the usual fixtures, tables and club news, chathamtownfc.info displayed nothing but an image of a machine-gun toting figure in a gas mask along with a message reading “Where is the security?”…
This comes after a slew of high profile websites and social media accounts have been hacked by , though Chatham Town’s site administer Steve Archer was left scratching his head as to why such a small team should be targeted – eventually coming to the conclusion that the hacker must have mistaken them for a Premier League side.
“It makes no sense,” Archer told Kent Online. “We’re a part time football club so I’m pretty sure it’s just a random attack.”
“Someone told me about 11pm. It must have been quite late as I had been working on it that evening.
“I’m just hoping I’ve not lost too much information. It’s taken me two years to put it together, and I’ve spent a lot of time on the history section. I’ve got results on there going back to 1990.”
So was it just a random attack or are Islamic State planning to take down western civilisation one non-league minnow at a time?
Time, as ever, will tell.
