This is a public service announcement on behalf of LA Galaxy, letting all interested parties that Steven Gerrard will be wearing his iconic No.8 shirt once he formally completes his move to the MLS side.

Galaxy’s No.8 jersey is currently vacant, sandwich by forward pair Robbie Keane (7) and Alan Gordon (9) either side.

The club announced the news by posting a picture of Gerrard’s new togs up on Instagram – also taking care to mention that Stevie’s replica shirts are now available to pre-order…

They don’t come cheap, mind – with a long-sleeved replica of Gerrard’s Galaxy kit going for a frankly extortionate $204.99 (approx. £134) on the Team LA Store website while a short-sleeved version is a relative bargain at just $174.99 (£114).

Yeesh.
