Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester United – Premier League – 22nd February 2014
Manchester United produced a strong display at Selhurst Park on Saturday, although it took an hour (and a penalty) to finally break the deadlock. The Eagles defended well for the majority of the game, with re-called midfielder Marouane Fellaini missing the best chance of the first-half for the Red Devils. However, on the hour-mark, another Marouane (the Chamakh one) up-ended Patrice Evra in the Palace box, leaving Robin Van Persie to fire home the resulting spot-kick. £300,000 per week man Wayne Rooney then netted a second, courtesy of a sublime first-time effort to end United’s winless streak and give them a boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Olympiakos. Palace, on the other hand, are now just two points clear of the relegation zone.
