Arsene Wenger: Alex Ferguson is my manager of the year

73835226.jpgYes, you did read that right and it’s not something I thought I’d ever write. Arsene Wenger thinks his arch rival Alex Ferguson should be manager of the year: ‘I feel this year Sir Alex Ferguson, because he’s in a position to fight on every front,’ Wenger told www.leaguemanagers.com. ‘…And Steve Coppell, who is in a position where nobody expected him to be and he has a team who do not play negatively – they have a positive attitude everywhere they go.’
Wenger doesn’t even mention Jose Mourinho, who’s in a position to fight on more fronts than Ferguson and has had more injury problems to deal with. I assume that Wenger now hates Mourinho more than he hates Fergie – a classic lesser of two evils scenario. I think it’s too early to say who should be manager of the season. When I know how many trophies Man Utd (they could still finish the season with the same number of trophies as Arsenal – ie, none) and Chelsea end up with, then I’ll pick between Jose and Fergie. And it’s absolutely right that Steve Coppell gets an honourable mention.
