SALIVA HADOUKEN!
After several days of consternation, the FA have decreed this morning that Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse will serve suspensions of six and seven matches respectively for spitting at each other on Wednesday night.
Cisse accepted the FA charge on Thursday but, despite the fairly damning television footage of the incident, Evans decided to plead not guilty and therefore had his case heard on Friday night.
It mattered little, with the FA pressing ahead and handing out lengthy bans to both parties – Cisse’s being one game longer due to the Senegalese striker having already been sent-off this season.
Five games for racism, seven for spitting. It’s the same old ridiculous quandary.
Anyway, at least we can put this whole sorry tale behind us now…until the next time, of course.
