Real Madrid Tell Manchester United Target Sergio Ramos He Will Not Be Sold ‘Under Any Circumstances’

Real Madrid have told Sergio Ramos that they are unwilling to sell him under any circumstances after the unsettled centre-half met with the club’s president, Florentino Perez, in Guangzhou on Sunday afternoon.

Ramos was widely reported to have informed Perez of his intentions to leave Real after a tense meeting at the club’s Valdebebas training ground a month or so ago.

According to the Guardian, the relationship between the pair has “become difficult” since then as Manchester United wait very openly in the wings having strategically pulled Ramos into the David De Gea mire in a bid to filibuster the seemingly inevitable departure of their first-choice goalkeeper.

However, following the “tense” meeting in China this morning, which was attended by Perez, Ramos, a couple of Real Madrid suits and Ramos’s brother/agent and apparently “ran on into the evening”, it would appear that the Spanish club have reiterated in no uncertain terms that they will not willingly allow the 29-year-old defender to leave this summer.

Ramos has two years left on his current contract at the Bernabeu and therefore holds minimal sway in the whole furore.

That said, there are still five weeks of fun and games left until the transfer window closes so, despite Real’s concerted attempts to bring the matter to a close, we sincerely doubt we’ve heard the last of this increasingly tedious little saga.

  1. United Red says:

    Typical Real!
They exert pressure on other clubs to sell players they want but when the roles are reversed, they dig their heels in and tell their players they are going nowhere!
Ramos may now have to make an official transfer request to try and force the issue and in his favour is the fact that Real fans are already angry and for him to remain at the club when fans don’t want you is of no advantage to either club or player.
Ramos supposedly being so important to Real does not marry up with their refusal to at least compromise upon a new deal instead of flatly refusing to negotiate!
Future relations between Real and United are no doubt going to be limited and any transfer dealings between the 2 could well be a thing of the past from on.

Oh well, I guess Manchester United are just gonna have to buy someone else.

  3. Straight Dave says:

I seriously cannot stand Real. United were happy to negotiate deals for Ronaldo, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, Heize and Hernandez (albeit on loan) to this lot over the last few years but as soon as we enquire about the availability one of their players they’re up in arms and Florentino Perez acts as though an International atrocity has just been committed.

I hope we dig our heels in regarding De Gea, keep him for another season and then with any luck another team will come in for him when his contract’s up meaning Real lose out on him altogether. Fuck ’em.
