Watford have announced that they are planning to stage a two-pronged tribute to former manager and chairman Graham Taylor, who sadly passed away last month.
First up will be a statue of Taylor which is to be sited outside Vicarage Road – though the precise location is still being discussed with Taylor’s family and Watford Borough Council.

Secondly, the Hornets are arranging a yearly pre-season friendly that will serve as an annual celebration of Taylor and the wonderful legacy he left behind.
This from the club website:
[The game] is expected to become an annual opportunity to remember Watford’s greatest-ever manager – will be arranged to take place at Vicarage Road Stadium ahead of the Hornets’ 2017/18 campaign.
Lovely stuff. It’s the least he deserves.
While Taylor already has a stand named in his honour, we can’t help but feel that statue is long overdue.
