Liverpool made it five wins out of five in the Premier League this season after a thoroughly convincing win over Tottenham at Wembley.
The visitors were by far the better side throughout the contest against a Spurs side who lacked the requisite sharpness against their effervescent opponents.
With Hugo Lloris out of action following his drink-driving ban, his replacement Michel Vorm failed to impress between the posts.
After dominating from the kick-off, Liverpool eventually took the lead on 39 minutes, with Vorm’s failure to clear the ball allowing Georginio Wijnaldum to score via a thumping header.
The goal, Wijnaldum’s first-ever away Premier League, came after goal-line technology had correctly judged the ball to have crossed the line.

Early in the second-half, the Reds nabbed a deserved second, this time courtesy of Roberto Firmino from point-blank range after Jan Vertonghen had deflected the ball onto his own post.
Tottenham improved after the break, although Liverpool should have extended their lead by a couple of goals, with Naby Keita and Sadio Mané both failing to make the most of great chances.
Late on, sub Erik Lamela got one back for the Lilywhites to set up a dramatic finale.
Son Heung-min then saw his penalty claims waved away by referee Michael Oliver.

However, Liverpool would hold on to secure a totally deserved win which sees them level on points at the top of the table with Chelsea.

As for Tottenham, despite an improved second-half display, they look well short of a side missing the spark which has powered their impressive form in recent seasons.
