Islam Slimani has joined Fenerbahce from Leicester City on loan for the rest of the season and, good gosh, the Turkish team have made an awful mess of announcing it.
We can only assume Fener were attempting to ape Roma’s newfangled meme-heavy social media output with a knowingly weird video of Slimani flexing between two flags, but instead we get something akin to a DIY hostage tape with piped orchestral music and sunglasses…
While we can appreciate that the kids are into wry ‘shite for shite’s sake’ post-deep-post-modern-meme-ism, this just isn’t it.
Not good. Not good at all, and Slimani himself must be chuffed at seeing such a huge budget blown on his big welcome.
A complete turkey, in more than one sense.
