Remember Aparecidense: the Brazilian side whose masseur snook snuck snooked sneaked onto the pitch to deny a certain goal at the end of the second leg of their promotion play-off against Tupi a week or so ago?
Well, the Superior Court of Sports Justice (SCSJ) have delivered their verdict and the club have been unceremoniously thrown out of the Brazilian Serie D and thus will not be allowed to compete in the State Championships for, as the SCSJ so tactfully put it, “acting in a manner contrary to sporting ethics”.
The massuer himself, Ramildo Fonseca has been suspended for 24 games and fined £500. The referee in charge of the game in question has been fully acquitted, presumably on the basis that he didn’t do anything wrong in the first place.
The result (2-2, meaning that Aparecidense would’ve gone through on away goals) has been annulled and Tupi have been given a 3-1 aggregate victory if we’re reading our slightly dodgy translation correctly.
Good work all round!
