Having well and truly obliterated Ivory Coast with a 10-goal rollicking in their opening group match, two-time women’s world champions Germany were frustrated by dark horses Norway in their second outing of the 2015 tournament as the two sides played out a cagey 1-1 draw on Thursday evening.
Germany went ahead after just five minutes when Anja Mittag swept up a fumble from Norwegian ‘keeper Ingrid Hjelmseth but were pegged back on the hour-mark in fine style when Maren Mjelde dinked home this cute-as-a-button free-kick to level the scores again…
How good does that look in real time? Honestly, the slow-motion replays just don’t do it justice.
What a beauty!
