Crystal Palace moved a significant six points clear of the relegation zone after thrashing Leicester 5-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Star man Wilfried Zaha got the ball rolling for the hosts, with the winger firing home from a neat James McArthur back-heel.

Before the break, Zaha returned the favour for McArthur, with the Scot finding the corner of the Leicester goal after a smart turn.

The Foxes were struggling to get into the game and, on 56 minutes, their task was made even harder by the sending-off of Marc Albrighton, after the wideman hauled down Zaha who was through on goal.

The Eagles made their numerical advantage count, with Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek getting among the goals.

Patrick van Aanholt then fired past goalkeeper Ben Hamer to make it 4-0 to the south Londoners.

There was still one more goal in the game, with sub Christian Benteke converting from the penalty spot at the death after the Belgian was felled in the box.

The game would end 5-0 to Palace, making it their joint-biggest winning margin in a top-flight game, along with a 5-0 defeat of Manchester United in December 1972.

Roy Hodgson’s charges now look set to avoid relegation after that horrendous season start under Frank de Boer.

As for Leicester, while they stay ninth, their recent loss of form may well see manager Claude Puel jettisoned in the summer by an impatient and rather unforgiving board.

Well done to Roy Hodgson & the players, it’s great to see Palace transformed over the season since that early doom.

I’m not sure what next season will hold for them, but surely they need to target a top 10 finish.

As for Leicester, it’s onto the managerial merry-go-round once again surely.

Who will please the players for 6 more months, before they get bored again and cry?
