Forgotten Wonder Goals: Dalian Atkinson Impersonates Maradona, Aston Villa vs Wimbledon, 1992

By Ollie Irish

Dalian’s finest moment was a goal worthy of any player who ever kicked a football. Shame he didn’t do it a bit more often.

Still, these few seconds of rare, Maradona-like genius earned him the Beeb’s Goal of the Season award in 1992-93. Which is almost as good as wining a World Cup single-handed.
