FA Cup 4th Round Draw: Arsenal Host Coventry, Chelsea Face Stoke As Draw Fails To Throw Up Any Inspiring Ties

By Alan Duffy

Usually there’s at least one lip-smacking tie thrown up by the FA Cup 4th Round draw, but this time, the famous balls, handpicked by cardigan afficionado Martin Allen and his cousin Paul Allen, formerly of West Ham, produced little in the way of crunch ties.

On the back of their north London derby win against Spurs, Arsenal drew Coventry at the Emirates while Man City, if they beat Blackburn in the 3rd Round replay, will host Bristol City or Watford. Chelsea, who comfortably beat Derby today 2-0 will face Stoke at Stamford Bridge while Sunday’s slayers of Man Utd, Swansea, will travel to one of Birmingham, Bristol Rovers or Crawley.

Here’s the draw in full. Bit dull, eh?

FA Cup fourth-round draw

Sunderland v Kidderminster or Peterborough

Bolton v Cardiff

Southampton v Yeovil

Huddersfield v Charlton or Oxford

Port Vale or Plymouth v Brighton

Nottingham Forest v Ipswich or Preston

Southend v Hull

Rochdale v Macclesfield or Sheffield Wednesday

Arsenal v Coventry

Stevenage v Everton

Wigan or MK Dons v Crystal Palace

Chelsea v Stoke

Blackburn or Manchester City v Bristol City or Watford

Bournemouth or Burton v Liverpool

Birmingham, Bristol Rovers or Crawley v Swansea

Sheffield United v Norwich or Fulham

  1. Cameron says:

Southend vs. Hull could be a giantkilling in the making, and Stevenage vs. Everton is necessarily a bad one either

I think it’s a rather tasty fixture list, with plenty of giant killing promise.

Burton Albion vs Liverpool could be a thrilling game.

Conference / League 2 sides relish coming up against the big sides, and you are always guaranteed 100% passion & effort from them.

Which is less than can be said when two high flying Premiership sides are paired together with players who only have eyes for the Champions League (and could not care less about the F.A. Cup)…
