Premier League leaders Liverpool suffered a second consecutive defeat on Monday night, with the Reds losing 2-1 away to Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp fielded a youthful starting 11, with teenagers Curtis Jones and Rafael Camacho making their full debuts.

Those youngsters were soon joined by 16-year old Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever, who replaced the injured Dejan Lovren after just six minutes.

Despite their inexperience, the visitors looked solid until the 38th minute, after a mistake by James Milner allowed Raul Jiminez to run at the Liverpool goal before firing home.

However, soon after the break, the Merseysiders drew level courtesy of a superb strike from Divock Origi, which was their first shot on target of the game.

That equaliser came on 51 minutes, but just four minutes later the hosts were back in front, this time via a dipping long-range strike from Ruben Neves which beat Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.

The Reds struggled to create many more chances in the game, although Xherdan Shaqiri’s free-kick was superbly pushed onto the post by John Ruddy.

The game would end 2-1 to Wolves who chalk up yet another good result against a big side in what is turning out to be a fine season for Nuno Espirito Santo and co.

As for Liverpool, they’ll at least have more time and energy to focus on their quest for a first-ever Premier League title.
