Newcastle suffered their eighth consecutive league defeat after yet another feeble display at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester got the best possible start when Leonardo Ulloa headed home in the first minute.

The relegation-threatened side doubled their advantage on 17 minutes when Wes Morgan netted from a  Marc Albrighton free-kick against a dismal Newcastle side.

Soon after the re-start, the Magpies day went from bad to worse when Emmanuel Riviere shoved Marcin Wasilewski in the Newcastle box. Ulloa converted the resulting spot-kick to net his second of the game and seal the deal for the Foxes.

After the third Leicester goal, the Magpies saw Mike Williamson sent off for a second bookable offence.

Then, at the death, Daryl Janmaat also saw red for a second bookable offence to top off a nightmare day for the visitors.

After a difficult week, Nigel Pearson now sees his team, at least temporarily, move three points clear of the drop-zone while Jon Carver’s appalling term in charge at St. James’ Park sees his side now just five points clear of danger.
